What's missing from this article is the fact that E85 delivers significantly lower MPG than unleaded gasoline (around 30% worse MPG). Unless the pump price of E85 is a buck or so cheaper than unleaded, it doesn't make economic sense to use it.

A gas station up the street from me just quit selling it for that reason (their E85 was priced a dime per gallon less than regular). I talked to the station manager and he said that people with flex fuel vehicles have tried it and reverted to regular gas because of the terrible fuel mileage that E85 produces.

Car and Driver has a good article on ethanol and fuel economy in this months issue...
