How many thousands of combat vets got Purple Hearts for smallish wounds in Vietnam, in addition to other wounds they may have received? Take a wild guess. Also, take a guess how many US combat vets have died or been maimed from sliver wounds?

The military LOVES to give out Purple Hearts. They don't CARE how minor the wound is, and don't use that as a criteria in awarding them. My father got an unasked for Purple Heart for a tiny piece of shrapnel in his ass (he was a navigator on a C-47 in WWII). He got the same Purple Heart that someone who had had his leg blown off would have gotten. If they mean anything, they show that the bearer served in combat somewhere he COULD have had his ass blown off, unlike our brave, "bring it on", chickenhawk President. Why not investigate ALL the Purple Hearts of the smearvets, and see how many were for "serious" wounds? But that doesn't really matter EITHER with you guys - you Repugnicans also smeared the Max Cleland, who was a near paraplegic from his wounds! If the military had any sense, they see that what you do cheapens and casts doubt on EVERY medal it's ever awarded. Because you chickenhawks REALLY believe that those who serve are stupid for doing so. That a Purple Heart is an award for stupidity.
