Did you just say you don't believe in common descent of life on earth? As to the second, if you don't believe in God, shouldn't you also believe we are here by accident? No God means there is no one to intend anything.

For several decades, the theory that smoking tobacco caused cancer was unproven. It took a large amount of effort by "believers" (that it did cause cancer) to actually prove the point convincingly.

Likewise, many of us who do believe in God (or other deity) wonder which point of the obvious argument (you are alive, just look at the world around you) are you missing??

Unfortunately, religion has often been it's own worst enemy in making people non believers.

However, the poppycock that relates the universe to movements of wave like motions in a pond, relationships between grapes, apples and oranges (particle and wave physics), the little bit of math we know and some chemistry makes us act like some juvenile who now "knows everything". Science, though useful, also promotes the peak of arrogance in human beings, even though we have to change all of our scientific theories on a regular basis. Frankly, on average, I think our ancient civilizations were on a higher plane of personal knowledge then where we are today. Just turn on the Tee Vee to get an idea of what I mean. Were the guys who built the pyramids really as dumb as that?

Well, the first 2, maybe. "Common descent" could mean God's wand. Let me rephrase the question...Darwin's Theory of Evolution?

Human beings, creatures trapped within three dimensions they can physically observe, often create TWO dimensional objects (drawings, magazine pages.. etc)..

Charles Shultz would animate his world of "Peanuts", giving "life" to those creations and designing their world... all with a few strokes of his ink-filled "wand".

The programmers of Sim-City have created a sort of Artificial Intelligence in their game, relying upon the creation of inumerable lines of code to operate it and dictates its "laws of nature"...

Can you say there are only 3 Dimensions??

And like Charlie Brown and his fellow characters living on a TWO DIMENSIONAL PLANE and unable to perceive their 3 Dimensional creator, how can we hope to perceive ours?

And I agree with your quote..

“It’s hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding.”

There are many "scientists" who are avowed atheists and reject the concept that "science is the art of revealing God"...

I wonder who pays their salary??
