Most Wanted Now: War-Weary Sunnis The impression I'm getting is that nobody on any side really knows what effect Zarqawi's death will have. Everybody is waiting to see what happens now. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot more Sunnis and Shia will have to die before war-weariness sets in. Arabs have a great capacity for persisting in counter-productive strategies long after their counter-productivity has become obvious to all. They get stuck in a rut, and don't have the ability to pull back and compromise, seeing compromise as surrender.
