What I think we are going to see from AMD is to discontinue the A64 line by sometime in the 4th quarter and Sempronize all single core models, while driving the dual core models down to the $130+ price point. Agree, it seems AMD is moving to mirror intel's Q3/Q4 line-up of ultra-cheap Celerons < cheap P4 dual core < Core2. This Intel lineup effectively ensures that AMD cannot "gut" all P4 sales with SC K8, since dual core sells vs single core, and maximizes the one big Intel advantage: capacity. See why AMD is hurrying Chartered production? The 2x256KB X2 will crush dual core P4 in both performance and power.

Re: the Athlon 64 price cuts have really started to hit newegg now

I agree. Motivated me to order parts to upgrade my wife's PC, yesterday.
It's a 3 to 4 year old Athlon XP that's been absolutely rock solid. I'd better
not screw it up - she thinks the machine is still fine and doesn't see the
need for an upgrade, so...

:-)

I've read some great reviews of the MSI board (DVI GeForce video on-board, firewire, etc.) The only complaint I've seen was that the fanless graphics chipset seemed to run warm, so I ordered some 40mm fans for the chipset:

Eric,

On socket 939, the 3700+, 3800+ and 4000+ go for $211, $239, and $296. On AM2, the 3800+ is listed at $165, but the 3700+ and 4000+ aren't yet listed.

I don't think there will be 3700 on AM2, since, it appears, AMD will not be making 1MB L2 parts for Socket AM2. There were rumors that 4000 will end up being 2.6 GHz, 512K part.
