Sounds like even more inflationary pressure this next downturn to me. As Jim M and Zebra mentioned, bubble markets municipalities spend the money immediately on infrastructure. This entitlement spending won't go away with a housing crash. RE taxes go down a little but are still a first lien on the property. Who gets wiped out is the equity holder/property owner and mortgage holder if RE taxes go unpaid.
