(edit) Re: Gambling - Ron would certainly have a point if he didn't overlook one simple, but important rule w/investing:

You invest in proportion w/your degree of confidence and the risk/reward offered.

Almost all of the decent ST traders I see here and on other boards respect this simple rule. Ron is being overly critical of something he either doesn't understand or is jealous of imho.

Everyone here is gambling every single day. Anyone that thinks otherwise is overly arrogant w/respect to their own knowledge/skills. The biggest difference of course is that we can get odds better than 50/50 and make enough of those bets over time and there you have it. You're gambling simply by holding.

Most of us here have been overly concentrated in PMs for too many years now. We (I) would have been better served by being more diversified, however, there's a good chance that during that diversification we would have missed quite a bit of the PM profits. I'm certainly trying to improve, but one thing I keep coming back to is sticking to what I know even if it means a lack of diversification.

Now if I lacked the time I would probably just Dollar cost average or some other method which required little to no effort. However I can do this for a living so why not try to have some fun. I'm also trying to learn and my style is to throw out all of my ideas (bullish and bearish) and then get some sort of feedback to see if other's are feeling the same way. I don't see how this method lacks conviction. If anything people who are dogmatic are far more likely to suffer big losses at some pt due to their overconfidence in their own abilities.

Regarding Ron's other pts I've read a number of his posts here and on other threads. His posts rarely if ever offer any insights. They are simply intended to stir the pot or draw attention to bad calls (of which we've all made plenty). I agree w/TSL booting, but of course I'm just one vote.
