Jake -

Hey, I went back to the post that Orca responded to, and it sure is silly. I can't answer for Orca as to why he answered the post now, but damned if I wasn't motivated to respond to one of the statements you made in it.

You said that Clinton was considered to be a "joke" around the world, and that he always had been. Wow. What an inane thing to say!

Have you ever been abroad? Or do you get your ideas about the rest of the world from Fox News?

Clinton was quite popular in the rest of the world (as he was in this country). He was highly regarded for his intellect. The Europeans were baffled by the big deal that was made about the Lewinsky affair. They didn't think it merited such a huge reaction.

Meanwhile, Bush is not just considered to be stupid, he is also reviled for his swaggering, aggressive, bull-headed, simplistic approach to foreign relations and his war mongering. Europeans are amazed that he was elected to a second term. You don't have to take my word for it. Read their newspapers. Or just talk to them.

I know it was an old post, but I thought I'd point out how completely wrong it was anyway.

PS: I know that you will respond to this post, if you do, with just some sort of dismissive insult. That's OK with me. I try to avoid personal attacks, myself, and actually discuss issues. But people have different styles, and I accept that.
