My neighbor, Fred, seems to be as good a candidate as anybody for the greatest American alive today. He works 8 to 5 weekdays. Works seasonal holidays at a second night retail job to support his family. Still manages to cut his own grass, do his own home maintenance, volunteer as baseball/soccer coach, spend sufficient time with his family, get the kids to church and school, and make a weeklong trip in lieu of a vacation last fall to help out the Katrina relief effort. Also donates 10% of his hard earned savings to charity. Yeah. Its Fred. He's quite amazing. An all around great American.
