CC, your post is reflective of how spooked this energy market is these days....and I'm glad to see such objective, apparently honest, and frank feelings coming from you and other reliable posters at this time.

I wrote a post two Fridays ago declaring my significant change in investment strategy....putting most of my cash into my "Fateful Four" intending to try to hold for the rest of the year...GW, PTEN, EOG, OIH. As most of the regular readers of our BBR can imagine just how deep a grove my dauber's draggin' in the dirt this a.m., it goes without saying how much my face, ass, and bankroll are showing vivid shades if red at this moment. This excerpt is very telling:

>>>So, now that the shoulder season is virtually over, and I'm reading more and more favorable commentary from the reliable posters on this board, and seeing the charts seeming to make the turn back to the upside along with strong crude and NG prices, I went to the high board and took the plunge...and based on today's outcome on my new portfolio of FOUR this p.m., the water is fine...at least luke warm.<g> It's going to be such a pleasant change to ignore all the "noise" that I had to pay close attention to while I was "day tradin".<<<

So what's my problem?

I'm still holding these POS's (my current definition <g>...will probably change 180 degrees before 24 hours goes by) and would only say I'm finding it extremely difficult to determine whether it's "noise" or one more step in establishing a "trend". I know one thing for sure, my current losses (paper) are sure speaking loudly...I'm even seriously considering a first time venture into margin buys when we start recovering from this ?correction?....Hey!, if Diana does it, why shouldn't I? Hopefully we will be able to recognize when it is a legitimate turn-around and not just some more noisy "noise".

Hope to keep hearing from others on the board their take on this crazy market.

Buck

CC,

<Be interesting to see how far energy stocks can fall.>

Good Sir, just stand aside. I traded out of 3 positions in the early minutes for small gains....had I not done that, certain pain.

There is simply too much product available. Liquidity is drying. Rates are rising. Housing and RE are tanking in many areas. IMO, there is no compelling reason to own energy now.

I looked seriously at the BTU chart over the weekend...after getting my wish to buy below 53 (which I did on late Friday).
Sold this AM -- simply because I do not think the 50s area will hold. Of course, I do not know, but I think BTU is also going south. Downside risk ???? I do not know, but it looks like BTU could retrace to 32ish. SWN UPL and other gassers look very weak.

CF today is meaningless..it is the future. If price declines, future CF, obviously, will shrink. Even the Canroys are not safe, IMO. If I trade in the near term, I will have to gettem atta reaaly cheeeep price.

jmho....
