"...yes, tax revenues are up but if we keep spending it faster than it comes in...."

Don't forget: last year was a one-time-only fiscal 'trick' to boost revenues (or: 'once in a generation' maybe....)

They had a 'tax holiday' --- a one-year-only special extra low federal tax rate for corporations who repatriated profits they had been 'stockpiling' in foreign countries for many years... keeping there to avoid paying taxes on those profits.

This special tax holiday expired at the end of 2005. BILLIONS were transfered to American jurisdictions, boosting the federal top line.

Do not expect to see a boost to gross revenues like that again --- but it has served it's purpose: it is the LAST annual federal revenue number that will be seen by the public before the fall elections.

Coincidence, I'm sure. :-)
