"Unfortunately, that is the "winning" strategy."

In the long run victory at war is not determined by missiles alone (although a short battle may be determined by missiles). At some point there must be a consiousness of the people that supports the change and outcome or nothing is settled and only mutual destruction may be available.

The same thing is true, maybe even more so, in politics. Short term gains accomplished by hook and crook are typically lost in the long run and for good reasons.

The risks far outweigh the benefits of fighting for seats in congress over such shallow premise as:

"he American people at large don't have the patience or interest in rational discourse. Give them 3-4 words that sums it up."

The American people must be encouraged to demand more, much more of themselves and their representatives.

More and more of us are opting to busy ourselves with the status quo lifestyles all about rushing for corporate gold, while losing the sense of human nobility that put this boat afloat a few hundred years ago. The populace of young people are turned off to the whole idea of political change and renewal because there is little or no genuine cause left to grab hold of in the process. As this happens, I notice we Americans are slipping in areas that we once excelled like math, science, and technical innovation.

I am advocating for a return to principle and conscience as a guide in political discourse and decision making. If it doesn't start to happen soon, I predict a severe downward spiral in societal and cultural strength, relative to the rest of the world.
