No I am not misinterpreting chart 20! By time 65nm starts production, transistor #8 will have been validated by 90nm production completion, 3 months from now.

CLEARLY, Slide 21 shows that the first 65nm transistor is NUMBER 8, the bubble perpendicular to the beginning of the arrow, just as it shows that the first 90nm transistor was NUMBER 1.

You are interpreting the first 65nm transistor as # 9 because that is the position of the "bubble" containing the words "65 nm?" By that reasoning, the first 90nm transistor was #5.

There is absolutely no way you can interpret slide 21 as saying that 65nm will start with Transistor 7. The "embedded SiGe fruit" has not been picked by AMD yet, which is something an Intel investor had better fear.
