Re: You know this, how?

The first two words of that sentence was "I believe". Of course if Chartered is doing a significantly better job of making AMD's CPUs in their first month of production than AMD is then AMD needs to go fabless now.

Even if true, you know the power consumption of a X2 3800+ how?

A couple reviews such as the ones at Lost Circuits measures actual CPU power consumption rather than just system power consumption.

It likely isn't anywhere near the family limit of 89 watts.

It isn't near 89W. Hopefully someone will test the standard X2 3800+ and X2 EE 3800+ to see if AMD is lying about their EE X2 3800+ power savings claims. :-)

But what the heck, say it is at 45 watts. This invalidates Petz's statement because...

His claim about SFF and Media Center PCs is valid. It's just that the X2 3600+ probably wouldn't be marketed as such and the TDP would be higher than that of the 35W EE X2 3800+. One has to wonder how serious AMD will really be in marketing the EE lineup. I didn't see any price cuts listed for 7/24, and the EE parts should probably be priced like the standard parts considering standard Conroe should be quite energy efficient as well.
