They are a contract fab. Their focus is on the most good die per wafer that meet specifications, which isn't what AMD and Intel focus on. It is a different market.

Ok, let me ask you a question. If owning a fab is cheaper than fabbing out, why doesn't VIA, ATI and nVidia own their own fabs? Their volume is high enough, as is they cash flow.
