Ann Coulter and Dr. Gerry Lowers God
Tuesday, 13 June 2006 Ann Coulter, also known as "Ms. Right" wing America (1), enjoys (like George W. Bush) an audience that grows smaller with every passing day. Accordingly, Ann's proclivity for mindless "thought" increases with every passing day. Ann is an extremist conservative male argument in high heels, standing blondly and blindly in defense of Roman religion and the American political status quo. She presents an argument that literally personifies mindless absolutism and religious psychosis.
Rising above the mists and fogs of human thought into her own dark light, Ann has even found a way to denigrate the wives and families of Americans slain on 9/11 because these people are making trouble for the Bush administration and its failed wars on "terrorism" and Iraq (2). Ann's unique right wing ability to see white and say black, to see victims and say vermin, literally characterizes the Godless right wing in America.
When the Coulter "think-alikes" look out into the world, they do not see what is there to be seen. They see instead what they have been told to see and what they want to see. They see a black and white world of good and bad, a frightening, evil-filled world in which God is aligned with self-proclaimed "christians," people who fear their God ... and rightfully so.
Whether or not the Coulter think-alikes actually behave in a Christian manner is beside the point, utterly irrelevant. They are not Christians per se. They are, in the Roman tradition, "christian" soldiers embattled in defense of a Christian ethic that they do not comprehend and do not allow to influence their own thought and their own lives. Old Testament Roman "christians" are, after all, firstly Old Testament and Roman.
What the Coulter think-alikes defend, of course, is Old Testament Roman despotism, the same despotism that the rich and powerful British colonists employed two centuries ago to justify oppression of the people in the American Colonies. Romanism was appended to nascent Christianity by the Emperor of Rome in the early 4th century and Constantine's "christianity" has never had much Christian content, having totally missed human rights.
The only time nascent Christian values and human rights were ever talked about and acted upon in public was during the EuroAmerican Enlightenment, the American Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independence during Jefferson and Franklin's century. By the time the Constitution was signed in 1789, the people had already lost half of what Jefferson and Franklin thought they had gained in principle. Defeated in war, pro-British mercantilists were determined to retain the traditional religion-based justifications for despotism and its oppressive means to wealth and power (never mind fairness and equality).
Today that mindset is alive, well and re-empowered in Bush's America and in the mind's of Coulter think-alikes with their remarkably primitive notions of an all-powerful and all-controlling supernatural God. In truth, God has no control over real world events at all. God needs no control over the real world and God seeks no control over the real world. For Christ's sake, people, that would be to subvert the God-given freedom that makes life itself possible. Pay attention now.
Consider the night skies and you can quickly learn that the suns and planets and moons in the heavens are self-directing, they run themselves naturally. Consider the seasons coming and going on earth and you can quickly learn that earthly cycles are self-directing, they run themselves naturally. Consider lilacs blossoming and garden beans climbing and you can quickly learn that the world of plants is self-directing, plants run themselves naturally. Consider birds in the air and rabbits eating the garden beans and you can quickly learn that the world of animals is self-directing, animals run themselves naturally.
Consider the fact that God is on the inside of all things as natural information. God is in the physical information beneath the material world, God is in the genomic information beneath the biological world, and God is in the ideologic information beneath the cultural world. Consider, with the material emergence of all things, that God sets all things free to do what they do naturally, the plants, the animals and humans. Life comes of itself, good people, and it always has. Life runs itself from the inside out.
Why would we think it any different for the people? As an integral feature of human cultural evolution, we have moved from the tribal to the national to the global level of human organization. Yet, the Coulter think-alikes still want to run the world with ancient tribal world views, as if the Renaissance and Reformation (and nationalism) never happened, as if the Newtonian Revolution, the EuroAmerican Enlightenment and Democracy (and globalization) never happened.
"In the beginning," we necessarily had to start from a position of fear and ignorance and, in the west, religion got the world mostly wrong, horribly wrong. There simply is no jealous, vengeful, vindictive, self-righteous God extolling punishments and wars as therapy for the human condition. God has left all of that vileness, like everything else, to confused people. Events in the human world are the result of human ideas, human decisions and human compliance.
The fact that we, the people, do not yet have our collective human act together does not change the fact that people on earth are making the decisions. Most people do pretty much as they must do to survive their current cultural "ism." Over the past half century, however, thoughtful and caring people, from China to Ukraine to Venezuela and America, have come to prefer the concept of human rights and democracy...
This has become the global point of conflict, between the ancient cultural "isms" (and their built-in unfairness) and the concept of human rights and democracy. This conflict will, of course, be maintained until the old orders fail in public and the people see the need to take authority and responsibility into their own hands - to make the world human, for the first time in human history. God is intimately invested in human purpose, has been from the start because God has no other means on earth.
The Coulter think-alikes are not even looking in the right place to find God. They are trying to find evidence of God in the events of the outside world (where they know God is not to be found ... by their own definition). They are not trying to comprehend anything in honest earth-bound terms. They are just trying to control everything, in the Roman tradition, even if their arguments for doing so are mindless and, therefore, Godless.
They are trying to find justification not for what is there to believe but for what they want to believe in the absence of public scrutiny and the light of science and human knowledge. They want to believe that they are right ... which they are by definition ("right" having little if anything to do with being honest and true). They want to believe that they ought prevail because they proclaim themselves to be "christian" (which is simply not possible within the confines of Old Testament religion).
Most of the problems we currently encounter in America and the world with fundamentalists (those who already have all the answers) can be traced back to the emergence of the Abrahamic western religions (Judaism, Old Testament Romanism and Islamism) and the decidedly unfair and unjust socioeconomic systems they have produced, characterized by top down oppression in the name of the rich and powerful.
All of this, of course, revolves around ancient bogus concepts of God. Taken literally, the ancient Abrahamic religions presume God to live external to the material world and yet be in control of everything that happens in that world. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course, and nothing could be further, therefore, from God.
Ann Coulter is her God's man on earth and her God's fool to boot. But, of course, as Godless as she is, Ann blindly serves an evolutionary purpose. She helps fuel the fundamentalism and capitalism beneath the post-World War II American mindset, the American version of Romanism that has done much to destroy family and community in America and will certainly come to a sad and sorry conclusion in the Middle East in fulfillment of religious prophecy.
This is the beauty of the western cultural evolutionary program, that the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Old Testament Romanism, Islamism) are uniformly apocalyptic and they call for their own "end of times." They will fulfill their own prophecies, not because they believe in apocalypse, but because they practice absolutism, i.e., they believe themselves to be infallible and doing the work of God.
When these three religions discredit themselves (and the unfair socioeconomic systems they support) from the global political arena, it will likely be the result of a Middle Eastern religious meltdown. This will likely be followed by a fiscal shutdown of the U.S. by lender nations, e.g., European Union, China. Because the impact will be shameful and global, the political doors will finally be open to seriously addressing human rights and a global democracy. What began in fear and ignorance will end in human knowledge and control. What began in oppression and violence will end in freedom and peace.
Do you see now how God works - from despotism to democracy? We have progressed from a tribal democracy in Greece to national democracies in America and Europe toward a global democracy in the world. We have gotten over Roman religion and imperialism, we have gotten over Roman religion and European colonialism and we will get over Roman religion and American and European capitalism.
God works only in the world of ideas, the world of knowledge-based values and the world of values-based knowledge. God works only against fear and ignorance (the staple of Ann Coulter's tiny world). God works only for human knowledge, human values and human rights (overruled in Ann Coulter's legal world). God works only for the People (unrecognized as such in Ann Coulter's right wing world).
God is embedded in the human capacity to be honest, thoughtful and caring. God is embedded only in individual thought. God is embedded only in original thought. God is embedded only in those who think on behalf of each other and on behalf of the whole. God is made manifest in this manner whenever people can think for themselves within the world of human values and human knowledge.
Now that you know the truth about God, don't you agree that we really best be getting our human act together, that we best be trying to aspire, for the first time, to God right here on earth, not female, not male, not east, not west. All it requires is to be fully and wholly human.
