JF, The vast majority that call themselves independents don't give a crap about the parties and just want functional government. "Potholes aren't partisan"? I agree. Look at Hurricane Katrina and how all levels of government broke down in miscommunication. Maybe a third party should just preach the virtues of good execution over idealist extremes. States rights on social issues? Your fellow bible thumpers would be in hog heaven. You're talking to a "red state" guy living in a "blue state." Not exactly a bible thumper's idea of "hog heaven."
