I cannot find the article describing the failure at the WTC.

From memory: when they were building the towers, asbestos cement was a legal material to use for fire proofing. As the progressed upwards, it was banned and a foam insulation was used for the rest of the work. the planes hit just above the floors where asbestos cement (AC) was used. If the planes had hit lower in AC protected portion of the structure the towers would still be standing. The impact of planes hitting caused the foam to shake off of the structural members. AC would have withstood the impacts.

Biggest mystery to me: Were the terrorists just lucky and happened to hit above the AC protected portions or were they intelligent enough to have figured this out ahead of time and skillful enough to have been able to fly the planes in low enough to have enough weight above to cause collapse and be high enough to avoid the AC portions.

In terms of failure, without the fire protection, and with the high heat of the jetfuel burning off, the steel in the support members quickly lost strength and rigidity and could not support the weight of the portion of the building above the impact floor. The weight of multiple stories dropping caused enough momentum to collapse the support members on the floors where heat was not a factor just like a kid walking across on a plank can do so without it breaking, but if he jumps up and down the plank will break due to the added momentum force.

I am not a structural engineer, but wonder why nobody warned all those firemen and policemen who rushed into the buildings. then again it is easy to criticize "when you're quartered safe out here".

Building #7 "the first protected steel structure ever known to collapse due solely to fire"

It's obvious how the third building was demolished. The Aliens realized their monstrous store of gold in the basement of the third building was in danger of being discovered in the post 9/11 cleanup so they used their dissolvo-resolvo gun to beam the stuff up to their spaceship behind the moon. With the basement gone the building collapsed.
