product is overhyped, and Intel is likely to underdeliver - unless they have done a lot of sampling for a long time.

I'd wager a guess that the main reason for all the hype was to hamper further AMD socket wins.

The unknown factor might be: given that P4 really sucks, how unwilling were OEMs to continue building stoves instead of computers, and how much heating power would end-users need (word has surely spread)?

If P4 demand was in a bad enough state, osbourning the entire product line probably wouldn't make much of a difference as it was going down the drains anyway?!

Just a thought...

you can not be serious. Intel is going to achieve 25% run rate by the end of the year which implies that on average it would be 10% and probably not more than 5% in the next quarter. You don't think that intel would push everyone toward amd by selling all of the conroes to dell, do you?
