Every communist regime makes war on a segment of its population - China, Russia, Cambodia, all the same. Some of the Viets were lucky enough to escape.

No, he is AMERICAN with a Vietnamese heritage. He is a wonderful man, and deserves every honor he has received...and it would appear there are several.

I do find this statement tough however...understandably they were badly treated after the war.

Some in the world damn the US because we have tried to treat people fairly, even POW's.

POW's who are from other countries, and imprisoned in America, have faired VERY well compared to our Military POW's who were imprisoned in various places in the world. Even military detainees' who don't wear a uniform of a country are treated better than any country that follows the Geneva Conventions....

Most countries say they do, but if and when our people are ever allowed to leave, or if they escape, their bodies tell the real story. Their mouths don't have to.
