even if conroe outperforms amd by 180% :-)) as some benchmarks suggest you still have to have enough of them to satisfy market demand. You can make market wait for 3 months but not for 6 months or more.

I think you are ignoring the fact that AMD will have the best performance or lowest power in notebook chips, which is the fastest growing segment.

Core and Core Duo cannot play because they are 32 bit chips. Turion 64 and X2 save an additional 5-7w because of ODMC, embedded SiGe will save at least another 5w and AMD has a whole new notebook architecture coming. So far, none of the Conroes are rated anywhere near the 35w of existing DC Turions.

Is Intel launching a 35w "low power" desktop chip in July?

No, AMD has one already.
