re: Don't know if actual statistics were polled back then but the fact is the US Image in Europe swings between neutral and quite negative. All the time and in most "Old Europe" countries and in particular in the larger of those such is the case. Euro's liked Kennedy... though I bet (some countries) really liked FDR if they had paused the war long enough to take a poll. I think we're at a low point in my lifetime... the Vietnam era might have been worse.
