Hi michael97123; Re: " I could see an outcome where Turkey ends up with the Kurdish areas, Jordan gets the sunni portion and the shiaa portion becomes a protectorate of iran."

Well half the planet is divided into countries that cross ethnic boundaries but the last time I can recall that a place got divided up so that its neighbors could get bigger was 1938. Uh, well maybe 1945.

What I'm saying is that this sort of solutions is just not possible, except in the very very very long term. What you'd have in the short term would be some sort of independence. But right now I think the country will hang together. Lebanon did. Wasn't pretty, but it's still "Lebanon".
