***OT*** I used to stay every summer on a horse farm in Kennett Square, a 13 room stone house (1776 cornerstone) and bank barn sitting on 175 acres of prime horse pasture with a pond for the migrating geese. The family I worked for had several brood mares and a handful of "saved from dog food" horses I would ride. It's beautiful country and yes, sorry to report, the RE boom hit the mushroom capital of the world long before it traveled down to my area.

I was around in 1973 or so when the family I worked for bought the farm in Kennett Square. They bought it for around 175K which was a large pile of cash back in those days. I can't imagine it is still in one piece now, but you never know. If it's in one piece it's at least 3 million if not more. I haven't had the heart to drive past it in a while even though I travel within a half mile of there on my way up to West Chester. You can't get prettier country than that Brandywine Valley on the East Coast.

Glad to hear Barbaro sounds like he will make it to the stud farm after all.

I have a funny story about being on a shoot where we needed to photograph a stallion running across a field. For anyone needing to do this, choose a gelding or a mare. Once they've been put out to stud they only get taken out of the barn for one reason, so you can imagine what we were looking at with this horse and this was in a time before we could take out anything we didn't want in the picture with the computer. Frankly, since the shot was for some big swinging Richards who ran a financial services firm, I thought it was appropriate.

Maybe the thought of 75 virgins keeps him going?
