But you didn't include chipset power in your calculations, just memory controller. Please, show me a chipset power comparison between Intel's 945 and NVIDIA/ATI chipsets for Turion X2 which includes the northbridge and southbridge.

And 40w is not "close" when you add the MTH power draw.

But Woodcrest uses a 1333MHz FSB, not a 667MHz FSB like Merom. Wouldn't Merom also use lower leakage transistors than Conroe and Woodcrest? And you asked about a Conroe near 35W, not a "Conroe+memory controller" near 35W.

Which system do you feel will draw more power under load...a 2.6GHz Athlon 64 5000+ or a 2.67GHz Conroe?
