RMF, I am not familiar with what happened in S. Carolina, but politics are a dirty business. McCain's contribution to the defense of the nation is quite admiral, but has no bearing on his ability to be the President. He was far from being the only hero in that war. What you have blamed the Bush's for, was made up by the advisors for the election. They didn't have to say it though, but they knew that McCain could not win the election and that was the major concern.
