if Yellowstone or Toba is about to make a record blow there is nothing we can do about it</I. We might not be able to prevent it but we can mitigate the impact. The same could be said fo global warming. It's not clear that we can prevent global warming, either, although we have at least some chance. In a way it might be easier if we clearly had no chance of preventing global warming. Then we could concentrate our efforts on mitigation and adaptation without all the distractions.
