There is all this talk about cutting and running. But I think the Bush propagandists are deliberately twisting the advocacy of war opponents. They are making it sound like the advocacy is for us to cut and run.

Heard Rep. Murtha lately? Sounds like cut and run to me. With others, like Kerry, it sounds like cut and run with some ribbons around it - we'll give you til x date, then we'll cut and run. Like I said, a very dumb idea. Your strategy should not have the effect of encouraging your enemies more than your friends. Face it, most Dems never wanted this war, they don't want to handle it now, and they really want to just leave, since they can assign all the blame to Bush & co. They can just pretend for the moment that there are no stakes involved and no costs down the line.

There is a growing section of Americans who have realized that we Americans do not have to bear the entire burden of Iraq. We should involve other nations of sharing that burden. Do you think Bush should start working towards building a coalition to rebuild Iraq?

I think he's certainly tried. But while fighting is involved, who you gonna call? The UN and the US State Dept have both opted out while the situation is dangerous. Britain and Australia have sent troops, with a sprinkling from some Nato countries and others.

I think Tom Barnett has named this problem. This is the "Sys Admin" problem. You need a force of peace-making nation builders, who can use force to keep the thugs at bay, but have a heavy policing & civil affairs component. This force doesn't exist anywhere, yet.
