Joe - Intel numbers
"
What I am wondering about is how the one time charges will be figured into the results.
"

If they come, they will also show numbers without at which the
market MAINLY will look.

"
What I am wondering about is how the one time charges will be figured into the results.
"

I assume again here some numbers with and without the write-
down if this will be a case.

"
I think Intel will not report negative EPS.
"

Me too. When I read the latest market comments, I'm not sure,
that Desktop is that weak - it will come inline for Intel too
this quarter. Server could be tricky for them, but not a big
number miss. The real question will be notebooks. They have
a huge share overall and ALL comments point to weak Notebook
sales because inventory is high. When you ask me, Intel has
hoped for higher units, so I think they will miss here - how high
is the question. If notebook is OK, they reach their low-end
at around 8B., but if Notebook is really that weak, I assume
more a 7,6-7,9B number.
The question is, will they warn prior to the CC, if they
recognize that they will be 200Mio. or so short?

Joe, re: What I am wondering about is how the one time charges will be figured into the results.

Not sure if you're referring to the contest or how each company will report.

As for the contest, our results will be based on whatever each company reports for EPS including any one-time charges/gains. We used to try to do a pro forma EPS and factor out any one-time charges but it got to be a little too subjective, so we just decided to go with whatever number they actually report in black and white on their Consolidated Statement of Operations under Net income (loss) per common share (Diluted).

Makes it a little more of a lottery category, but there is no disputing what EPS number to plug into the contest spreadsheet.

Regards,

JJ

Joe re intc charges,

As you note, a wild card. I had thought they would do some financial housecleaning last quarter, but they didn't. Hard to figure their strategy re inventory - the ongoing stock buyback program complicates things too.
