Oh, I agree with that specific point. But George Will won't and didn't get elected.

The electable conservatives, Drum's point is, weren't just in the presidency (much of the Reagan years) and thus could blame things on those awful Dems. Self-identified conservative politicians, whose campaigns were supported by conservative idealogues, ran the government.

So it's not just George Bush, it's Tom DeLay, Dennis Hastert, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Frist, the list would be terribly long.
