Is there any actual statement from "liberals" saying they don't mind being called godless?

I doubt it. That would obviate the point. The point is that the people being called "godless" have apparently not complained about it, at least not much. I've read a lot of the stuff swirling around this controversy and I haven't seen a single one complaining about being called "godless" whereas the "unpatriotic" label caused a huge flap and continues to be a sore point. Now, my exposure might have somehow missed the "godless" flap, I acknowledge, but a flap anywhere near the size of the "unpatriotic" one I couldn't have missed. The dearth of complaint, if that is in fact the case, is evidence of a contrast in reactions, a lesser concern about the latter label.

Since liberals are a diverse group no one statement would ever issue forth that adequately represented the liberals. I imagine those members of clergy who are liberal, and those members of the left who have faith, are offended by Coulter's comments. They may not give much credence to her utterances, but offensive remarks meant to wound are offensive even if they don't manage to hurt the intended recipients.
