The end of al-Qaeda in Iraq unforunately does not mean the end of violence there. Even Bush says the violence will continue for many years.

I would call the comments overly optimistic but not rubbish. "...the invasion of Iraq has made Al Quaeda basically indistructable and totally non centrist in it's leadership..." The truth is that the invasion of Iraq has been a rallying cry for recruitment to anti-American militancy. So, your comment has some validity but it ignores history. Historically: Al-Qaida was formed and became a power that could threaten the world in response to the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, and in the building of the Taleban government of Afghanistan. Once that effort looked successful Al-Qaida was being wooed as a model for the destruction of Western civilization and for the promotion of governments similar to the Taleban of Afghanistan. It had begun to not only threaten but sponsor violent acts of terrorism against all barriers to its goal of world domination. It appears to me that even though Al-Qaida has become somewhat of a magnet for militant terrorists, the over all effects of the invasion of Iraq have derailed the agenda of Al-Qaida and lessened the foothold of Al-Qaida on its attempts to conquer the world, not strengthened it.
