Federal employees took several weeks off during the great pissing match between congress and Clinton. We got a short paycheck but it was restored, so what it amounted to was an extra paid vacation. I thought it was the dumbest thing the government could have done under the circumstances.

The Hamas government employees are rioting in Palestine because they haven't been paid.

Bottom line: No pay, no work.

tb news says the legislature has not met the constiutional deadline once in the last 20 years. it also said the deadline that REALLY counts is the neginning of the new fiscal year- -july 1. If there were a no meet, no pay provision, I bet they'd hit it every time.

The hang-up this time is over state payment for medical care for children of illegal immigrants. The Republicans oppose it; the Dems of course are for it.
