SpecCPU2000 has a few cache friendly benches and a few that Intel have cracked, eg art and mcf.

Well, yeah, but you can argue both ways. There are real world apps that behave that way. So entirely eliminating advantage of say 16 MB or 4 MB over say 1 MB L2 processor is not entirely fair either.

There are real world apps that behave close to art, namely games. It seems that many algorithms in games do fit entirely in caches. The review (tbreak) released today showed it to some extend. I went through the review comparing results of x2 5000 vs. FX-60. FX 60 lead in cache dependent tests, even though it had lower bandwidth. The test where FX lead 5000, Conroe lead by greater margin.
