I think people care about insults, even when they find the people hurling the insults repugnant. That's why liberals get upset when Ann attacks them, as they clearly are upset. No one likes to be attacked. No one likes to be called evil, or a traitor, and I'm quite sure the religious liberals don't like being called Godless just because they value the separation of church and state. So I think you are wrong. I think people care, not because Ann says it, but because the thought is voiced. I think black Americans are hurt when Klansmen say they are trash, even though I'm sure black Americans know they "shouldn't" care what Klansmen think- but it's about the hate loosed in the world in one's direction, isn't it? You can try to discount the emitter of the hate all you want, but still, the hate sits there, like a vile lump. I bet Ann doesn't like being attacked and hated either, and I bet she cares a little bit what liberals say about her - but the money is just too good, so she probably has convinced herself that the money is compensation for the things people say about her (in response to her own attacks upon people), and the ugliness and social horror that follows in her wake, but I would bet that in the dark night of her soul (unless she is a complete sociopath), the things people say about her occasionally bother her. You've have to be completely antisocial not to care a little bit about people reviling you, or feel a little guilt for reviling innocent people whose only crime is to be of a different political stripe- and that's exactly what Ann does to liberals, she reviles them, and their only crime is that they voice different opinions than she does. I think it hurts people individually, and I think it hurts our society. We are a less humane and peaceful people every time we give in to the kind of rants from the right OR left that dehumanize and degrade another political party, just because they are "the opposition". Disagreement is one thing, hate, dehumanization and degradation are quite another. Just my opinion.
