The word, "parsing," has become terribly contorted. The usage has been twisted, incorrectly, into a synonym for spinning. Another perfectly good and useful word bites the dust.

The point is that the statement was obviously wrong. No careful parsing was necessary to show that, or as Lane3 pointed out, no spinning.

If you drop the term parsing than you might have a point. Even if the defense is simple an accurate, the Republicans are still on the defense.
