Talking about democrats of the mid 1800's as if that had any relevance to democrats of today is moronic. LOL!! You make my point. It has been almost 100 years since republicans did anything that benefitted gays and poor people of color. Look at the current landscape. It is obvious that republicans stand against things that would benefit the poor and gays. 1. gay marriage-republicans against consistently 2. minimum wage-republicans against consistently 3. veteran's benefits-republicans vote in favor of cutting consistently 4. immigration-republicans in favor of flooding the labor market with illegal immigrants- thus keeping wages low. Etc etc etc.
