With AMD's margins at all time highs (almost 60%) and INTC's expected to hit the 40s, a price war could well hurt AMD's stock price more than INTC's.

Also, INTC's R&D budget exceeds AMD's top line. This will make it very hard for AMD to stay ahead for any lengthy period of time.

Citigroup analyst has already speculated that Dell will announce AMD in its desktops. Yet, GS thinks the bad news is already well known and priced into the stock.

With INTC recently making a new 3 year low; and, being near a 10 year low, I suspect the relative performance of the 2 companies will favour INTC.

But I've been wrong before,
Ian

Peter -

I am looking to buy either an HP or Gateway desktop.

I am confused by all the various AMD chip numbers.
i.e. 3800 , 4200 , etc.

In short - what is the fastest AMD chip offered by
the PC mfg's.

regards,
John McCarthy
