He has spent more time than any other senator working for veterans rights. Why would you deny something like that? There is no one in the senate who has put it more time caring for our troops than Kerry. Bush's tax cuts turned out to be very reckless and irresponsible, especially during war-time. There was no reason billionaires needed a tax cut. Bush' s tax cuts are a clear huge giveaway to the rich and the middleclas pay for it. Bushies have spent more than any democratic administration ever would. So that's all deficits, big fat debts dumped onto the middleclass. The entire war is on the credit card with no plan to pay for it. Bush promised to cut deficits in half within 5 years and doubled them instead. He's a big fat liar on tax and budget issues. Clinton's tax increases (along with Bush Sr's and Reagan's, yep they raised them too) finally paid off the Reagan deficits and balanced the budget, then gave us surpluses with the sensational Clinton economy which created 22 million new jobs. Bush's economy is poor compared to Clinton's, mainly because Bush's is built on deficit spending which is actually a negative. Clinton's was all paid for and more. Yes, the peace dividend allowed us to cut defence spending, as well we should have. The Cold War was over. Dick Cheney also agreed with those defense cuts. Kerry never votes for any vital weapon systems to be cut and cares much more for the personnel in the armed forces than Repubs do. Kerry also voted FOR those same weapons systems in other bills, which is why Bush's TV ads were so dishonest and misleading to the American people. Kerry actually had the same defence budget voting record as Zell Miller. Exactly the same. The only weapons system Kerry voted out was the MX Missile system which was a huge expensive hog and boondoggle. We have to manage our defense money better. Just spending oodles of money doesn't make us safer or our army better. Under Bush we are squandering tens of billions every year, just money totally wasted because of corruption and mismanagement. Plus 21 billion is missing in Iraq. Where did it go? Then when Katrina hit, look at what Bush did. Nothing. All that money we spent and Bush had n othing to offer the victims of Katrina but photo ops. Shameful.
