(T-G) $ 28.71 -2.29 GOLD $570.10 -9.30 Unless you’ve been off on your annual fishing trip in the middle of no where in Alaska, or your trip with the Buddhist up Mount Everest and have been totally away from everything in the last couple of weeks/months, you’ve totally missed this market correction. It has been ugly! As we go through charts to try and tell us or show us exactly how bad it has been, one that stands out amongst all of them is Goldcorp Inc. Considered today as one of the better of the big gold producers, it has been clobbered like everything else and remember, this is a company that’s going to produce between 1.7 million and 2 million ounces of gold this year. It’s been pummeled like everything else and again today with gold down again, there you go. Take a look at the chart, it tells you what’s been going on...REDHAWK RESOURCES (V-RDK) $0.61 +0.09 One of the stories we have been following and are a shareholder in, is Redhawk Resources. They have not one, but two projects that just might be a little closer to becoming real than most juniors - their Remac zinc project in B.C., is only a hoot and holler away from the Trail refinery and a relatively new project, the Copper Creek copper play in Arizona. What gives this company some oomph today is coming on board, three significant experienced mining people to round out the management team, which is all-important to take them from being just another one of a 1000 or 2000 explorers, to something that might bring about production. Kristian Ross bows out as Chief Executive Office, President and Director as does Michael Foster and coming on board as President and Director is Bruce Briggs, a professional engineer with 35 years experience in mining and beginning that career at Inco where he was Chief Mining Engineer of a 7000 tpd open pit mine. Steve Bastable will join as a director and is currently a partner in Boulder Investment Partners and was formerly a director of CIBC Wood Gundy. Joe Sandberg, an experienced mining exploration geologist based in Arizona where their Redhawk’s Copper Creek project is will become a Director. And Michael Petrina has been appointed a consultant and will oversee the development of the Remac property. Living in Edmonton, it’s hard NOT to get excited about the Stanley Cup Finals and what the Edmonton Oilers have accomplished. It has affected this town even more so than the days of the 1980’s and the days of Gretzky, Messier, Anderson, Kurri and the like. What’s different this time is that these Oilers are the underdogs. They barely made it into the playoffs. With each victory, this town gets more carried away. Driving from a friends party where we saw the last game, it seemed every corner there were kids out there with signs looking for people to honk their horn, and for two hours after the last game, horns were honking everywhere! There were 30,000 people back on Whyte Avenue. Canaccord mining analyst Graeme Currie says that he is responsible for the last victory as he wore the custom designed Oiler jersey watching the last few games. Pat Boswell of International Frontier Resources in Calgary says it’s all his work... Interesting to see how Canadians are adopting this team and there are some friends that will be at the game. One of the lads from our shop is even going to be there and we suspect he will be shown on TV. After all, how many people will be at the game, wearing orange tuxedoes!! GO OILERS GO!!!Disclosure: Goldcorp Inc: Canaccord Capital covers this stock and has a Hold rating on it.
