A simple-minded comment on my part if you don't mind.

With respect to the level of total USA debt as a
% of GDP.

I am NOT comfortable looking at Japan and saying (in effect)
the USA ain't so bad off in that Japan's debt is at
116% of their GDP .... and we are only at 70%

What I am more interested in is the TREND of USA debt
as a % of GDP .... over time .

i.e.

1950
1955
1960
1965
and so on up to 2005

I am one of those people who can't put my finger on it
but think the dollar is being destroyed by the TREND
in USA total debt as a % to GDP.

Additionally, and (I guess) this is wrong to think -
but I EQUATE "printing too much money" (the 4th reason
in you analysis) and an increasing TREND in USA debt as % of GDP as two sides of the same coin.

Lastly, I really enjoy your analysis because you
first - DEFINE the problem and second - review it
from many aspects.

John McCarthy
