Remember that Jefferson hasn't been indicted yet, although it is hard to see how he can avoid it. DeLay didn't step down as Majority Whip until he was indicted, and that only because the rules required it. Remember when he tried to get that rule changed? If there hadn't of been such and uproar, he would still be in Congress and still be the Whip. Cunningham didn't resign until he entered his guilty plea. In both cases, no Republican uttered even a peep except to express their support and confidence that both of those slimeballs would be cleared. After Cunnigham pled guilty, the silence was deafening...
