It was a good fight and if winky fights the 12th round, he would be champ right now.

Don,
Winky getting a draw in Jermain's hometown is really a win for Winky. I had the fight 7-5 for Wright. Winky left the door open for controversy with his tactical change of styles in the 11th and 12th rounds. From rounds 1-10 Wright was right in front of Taylor controlling the geography of the ring. Wright went on his toes in the last two rounds and really confused Taylor. Problem was for Wright that even though Taylor was befuddled, Wright was less effective offensively while on his toes than when he was right in front of Taylor. With Taylor's eye closed, Wright should have stepped up the aggression in the last two rounds and taken it out of the hands of the judges. Instead, Wright eeked out the last round and let the last two rounds be close enough to leave the door open so the judges could score the rounds either way depending on what they were looking for.

Taylor is a good fighter and showed improvement under Manny Steward. Wright has always been a pitty pat puncher, but he is a master of the subtleties of the sweet science. The punch stats tell the story:

Total Punches
Wright: 226/643 - 35%
Taylor: 163/703 - 23%

Power Punches
Wright: 123/308 - 40%
Taylor: 122/395 - 31%

You said it, Don, in your pre-fight post. A marketable rematch is almost assured.
