This is why the issue of WMDs is and was basically a diplomatic convenience...

IOW, a bald faced lie -- for which 2500+ young men and women have died, 100,000+ innocent Iraqis have been killed and over $300B has been stolen from us.

>>This is why the issue of WMDs is and was basically a diplomatic convenience, or if you prefer, a red herring. Cui bono? is the question to ask.<<

Nadine -

A diplomatic convenience for whom? George Bush?

Your post is mostly supposition with the assumption of ulterior motive.

Surely a wide-open Iraq, with rebuilding contracts for all coalition participants, would have benefitted France and Germany, at least, if not also Russia and China?

And as for making assumptions about motives, let's not forget that there are French and German troops stationed in Afghanistan, alongside ours, to this day.
