Forget the Kurds. they're self-contained and largely irrelevant. They'd like to have their own country anyway. Bushies always point to the Kurds and say they're happy. Yeah, because they're not in the middle of a civil war and have their own militia and oilfields.

The rest of the country is a total mess. Baghdad can't even be secured. When Bush visited he didn't leave the airport.
It's actually worse than Vietnam in that respect. At least in Vietnam, the redlight district and a few bases were safe.

Anyway, don't believe the Bushie spin. This invasion had nothoing to do with terrorism, that was all a big lie, it has created more terrorism than it's stopped, it's tremendously costly and has weakened our military to the point where we're unable to wage any other wars, even ones with a point. This particular war is 90% senseless and wasteful. The only reason we stay the source is Bush refuses to admit he's a loser. Just like LBJ. But at least LBJ had the class to bow out.

What were Bush-Cheney thinking? You or I could have planned it better. And boy oh boy did they lie to us to get us into that war. Meanwhile, Al Qaida is pretty much safe and able to function, five years after 9-11. And our Homeland Security and FEMA stink too. National security should be Bush's weakest issue. Judge him on results not rhetoric.
