<The difference between people like me and religious people, is that I choose to live with that gap, that uncertainty, while they like to paper over the gap with primitive myths and stories, give it a name, and then pretend that they've understood something. >

That's interesting... the predominant negative (my judgement) experience with some [Christian] religious people is the opposite, they don't WANT to hear it, and like to assert everything a mystery. Go figure, I guess everyones different.

You get the same phenomenon in stocks - when SI was young there were all sorts of flakey promotions being pumped here, non-reporting bulletin board productions that were in many cases so obviously phoney it was hard to believe anybody could be sucked in, but a depressingly large slice of humanity would be, many of them in serial fashion, one PoS after another ... religous fervour up the ying-yang and determined to suspend, nay eliminate, critical thinking ... then that sort of thing moved largely to ragingbull

We all do it of course, to some extent ... everybody needs something to believe in ... i believe i'll have another beer ... well that is a given, but i also believe we're unlikely to see oil break 50 on the downside, or gold 500, or silver say 9.00ish ... just let those assumptions sneak in there somehow, funny how that goes

aru.v - about to make new ath just as su.to makes a new day's low, hmmm ... no no no must not connect those two thoughts, aargh ...
