Thanks for posting the links. They confirm what I remembered from keeping track of the situation at the time. The U.S. coalition was put together largely by "arm-twisting". This is what I have been saying here.

This is in contrast to the Afghanistan coalition, where all these same nations joined willingly, without coercion, carrots or sticks.

Efforts from the Right to rewrite the history, saying "everyone believed Saddam had WMDS" are too often not countered by the left. If their deception is pointed out, the Right accuses the Left of rewriting.

Was there something in there about not believing that Saddam had WMDs? I didn't see anything.
