Well I'm fond of saying that I continue to hold my personal residence for personal reasons not financial ones.

There are good times and bad times to buy houses and good times to be a renter as opposed to an owner. Back when we bought our rental houses the mortgage was below the cost of renting a similar unit. It seemed like a no brainer. I couldn't understand why people would rent something for more than it cost to buy it, but this is the way things go, sometimes one diverges completely from the other in a fashion that seems irrational.

I think you are correct in assuming that it isn't a good time to buy but I seem to recall you made the same assessment five years ago, although I might be wrong in that memory.
