"...I understand that they did confiscate guns from houses..." There are widely reported stories about the NO police actually body-checking against a wall an older woman, inside her home, to take her collectable handgun away from her. The story goes that she displayed it (not threateningly) to the cops with a comment to the effect that, "if I need to, I can take care of myself." There are many more reports of the cops illegally breaking into homes where they knew or suspected firearms were present, and confiscating them. Many of those confiscated guns still haven't been returned, despite a court order to that effect.
