Yeah, thank God my folks listened to my repeated warnings and sold their home last year(at the exact peak as it turned out). they paid cash for a rent controlled MH in a nice SLO park. And put 500k into the bank while they were at it. they have 4 retirement incomes so they will be OK. My mom grew up in the depression and has been a lifelong democrat. She thinks we are into a fascist state, both parties are totally corrupt and the US is headed for depression. Over 40 years of very active Calif political activism and she has thrown in the towel.

Brothels Make Billions!

(we finally find out what has been supporting this property bubble - executive compensation VIA hookers - BWAHA - I hope this shakes up the ceo's - I am tired of going to a 2 dollar whore and her telling me Jack Welch gave her 20K last night - I PRAY for mish's scenario - hehe)

How do you know your brothel is making serious cash? When you can buy a floor of condos at the converted Plaza hotel. At least, that's what prosecutors claim Andrea Schwartz was going to do, as the NYPD's Vice Squad busted a Midtown prostitution ring yesterday. Brazilian-born Schwartz confessed to running the business out of her 100 West 58th Street condo, as well as selling coke to some of her customers. Schwartz and three other women were arrested, and Schwartz was denied bail because she had enough "cash to put together a $350 million deal with Italian investors" to buy residences at the Plaza. Hmm, that does sound like a flight risk.

When undercover cops went to her apartment, they were quoted $1500 for a threesome with two hookers and $700 for sex with one (Schwartz charged more for her services). The Daily News reports that she explained, "All the money I make in prostitution, I put in the bank, and I'm using the money to pay off the mortgage on my place." Well, real estate is a good investment, though the money might be illegal. And even though Schwartz would often bring back new "recruits" from Brazil, her doormen "figured they were probably family."

'I think that's a good summary. My own parents will officially be homeless in one week, primary caused by inflation outstripping their pension/SS gains of the past 15-20 years since they retired.'

But how can that be if many bright people tell me there is no inflation? Tight management of finances, good investing and benefiting from the housing boom bailed many out. I see the haves and have nots even in my own family. Others not so fortunate are hurting from the incredible rise in costs of living. I've never seen more homeless people as there are today. Many thrown on the streets because of the housing bubble and a shortage of affordable apartments. I wish them the best.

Benwood do your parents not have a house at all? Are they over 62? Could they qualify for a reverse mortgage? I see many people in fla not taking this option because they simply aren't aware of it, but as their finances get crushed and they are forced to the end of thier rope - all of a sudden the local loan officer has a solution for them they never thought of before and it buys them some time.
